Berkshire County has a 2,000 unit housing shortfall and — before a statewide and state-supported push to develop housing — a dearth of projects in the construction pipeline. But state support has spurred a number of housing developments in the county, and the 2024 Affordable Homes Act out of the state legislature overhauled many facets of the state’s housing world.
